Disney Shows Passion For Community At 50th Anniversary With $ 3M In Grants To Local Nonprofits

from disney the values of the company are “optimism”, “innovation”, “decency”, “quality”, “community” and “storytelling”. Having such values makes sense for a company whose brand includes epic animated films, magical theme parks, and messages shrouded in decency, wonder and joy.

Few would say that when Disney arrived in central Florida 50 years ago, the trajectory of the community changed forever. The world knows Central Florida not only because of our sunshine, but because we are a community filled with seemingly endless wonder, entertainment, memory opportunities, and excitement. Our Disney-run theme parks are ‘magnets’ to millions of visitors each year, and as the world goes through an unprecedented time amid the COVID-19 pandemic, central Florida is positioned to to be the number one choice to bring back “normality” in the life of the world!

Disney has brought so much to Central Florida, and as they prepared to celebrate their 50th anniversary in Florida with the community and the world, Disney once again made the decision not just to “be” in the community, but “to be part” of it. community by recognizing six local organizations that have a positive impact on those in need.

As Rena Langley, senior vice president of communications and public affairs at Walt Disney World, recently put it in the Disney Parks blog: “Our family in Central Florida has been so important to us since the Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1971. It’s where our cast members live, attend school, raise families and thrive. For decades, we’ve been inspired by the local nonprofits and magic makers in our community who make a difference to so many people – giving back to these organizations is a proud tradition that we are committed to continuing in. to come up.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Disney has awarded a total of $ 3 million to six nonprofits in central Florida, joining these organizations to make a positive difference for children and families in the community. These six magical organizations are:

Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida supports youth development and gives children the confidence they need to stay out of trouble, make good decisions, and lead the way to healthy and productive lives

Hope Partnership supports families experiencing homelessness and poverty in Osceola County, while providing a pathway to employment, health care and housing through its Hope Works program.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida helps create hope and nourish lives through a powerful anti-hunger network.

United Way in the Heart of Florida improves the lives of individuals and families, building strong communities by uniting people and organizations to create measurable results and lasting impact.

RAISE Orlando works to build life-changing relationships with urban youth, providing students with opportunities such as job shadowing, personal presentations, and classroom speaker series

For many of us in Central Florida, these are organizations we often hear about. In the midst of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, time and time again, these organizations have stepped up to ensure that families and individuals in and around the community have been supported, loved and filled with renewed hope that better days are ahead of them, and for all of us.

For these six organizations, Disney’s $ 500,000 donation is not just a financial blessing, it is a way for them to pursue their passion for those in need in the community, and it shows that the work that ‘they do on a daily basis is important and that they are not alone. . Thank you Disney for your attention and happy 50th!
