EKU community support shines in 2021-2022
RICHMOND, Ky. – In November alone, more than $ 50,000 in new dollars was raised as part of EKU Athletics’ Next Level efforts in November, the department said. The crowdfunding campaign, which culminated with the internationally acclaimed #GivingTuesday, saw five sports programs raise more than $ 5,000 each to directly impact the student-athlete experience in a variety of ways. The generous efforts of the EKU community capped an impressive month of external success for the athletics department.
“Colonel’s fans and investors continue to help propel our department towards continued growth and success,” said vice president and chief athlete. Matt Roan. “Whether near or far, the commitment of those who are long-time supporters, those who are getting involved for the first time, the alumni of the institution, and the alumni of our sports programs is greatly appreciated. by our student-athletes, coaches, and staff. This generosity and leadership will help our programs reach new heights and provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes.
EKU Athletics will also be participating in the campus-wide EKU Giving Day on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. During its most recent EKU Giving Day, EKU Athletics saw a 1,444% increase in total dollars raised compared to to the previous effort in 2019, including 100 percent of coaches and staff are supporting.
Earlier in November, the department announced that new benchmarks had been set for season tickets distributed for the men’s and women’s basketball programs. The men’s basketball program sold more than 500 new public subscriptions for the 2021-22 season. Single-game tickets for the 2021-22 basketball campaigns are still available at EKUSports.com.

Contributions made to the Colonel Club are unrestricted gifts used to benefit EKU Athletics and its student-athletes, including scholarship support. Contributions made to an individual sports fund are used to directly benefit this program. Sport specific supporters will be recognized as Colonel Club members, but all benefits are realized through the Individual Sports office. Supporters can refuse the benefits of the 100% tax deduction. The Colonel Club accepts many types of gifts that match the missions, goals and priorities of EKU Athletics. These include current gifts, such as money or stock transfers, and deferred gifts, such as bequests. There are a number of convenient ways you can give gifts, including online, over the phone, by mail, and in person.

- The Colonel Club accepts matched donations from eligible employers. Contact your company’s human resources department to find out if your donation can be matched and to obtain the appropriate matched donation form to send with your contribution.
- Gifts in kind
- Goods and services can be donated to help offset expenses for our sports programs. Catering, office supplies, travel services, courtesy cars and printing services are part of the department’s annual requirements. These gifts must have the prior approval of the Athletic Director and will be credited at 50 to 75 percent of their market value.
- Non-monetary gifts
- We accept donations of goods in kind (tangible personal property), including:
- Securities such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds
- Gifts in kind of tangible property such as works of art, vehicles or animals – Intangible property such as patents, inventions and copyrights
- Real estate, including present and future interests
- Oil, gas and mineral interests

- Estate planning
- There are many options for leaving your legacy through planned giving to EKU Athletics. Some of them are:
- Bequest by will or trust
- Designation of the Colonel Club as beneficiary of a pension plan or a life insurance policy
- Using a donation template such as a charitable annuity, charitable trust, or IRA rollover
