MMT eases pandemic with CoviRide and more
On Thursday, MakeMyTrip – a leading online travel company, announced a partnership with over 500 hotels across Lucknow, Mumbai, Jaipur, Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and other cities. In accordance with this partnership, after booking a room through the MakeMyTrip platform, these hotels will offer comfortable isolation rooms for patients suffering from COVID-19.
Most partner hotels also offer an all-inclusive rate to make the isolation period as self-sufficient as possible. Apart from that, the MakeMyTrip foundation also procures 300 oxygen concentrators. The initial package has already been shared with the Gurgaon administration, Ganga Ram hospital in Delhi and NGOs such as Hemkunt Foundation.
Additionally, MakeMyTrip recently launched CoviRide, a platform designed to help individuals, organizations and large communities find and provide transportation-related assistance for infected patients. This platform is available both on the mobile web and on the desktop, will also help users locate vaccination centers, walk through oxygen centers and hospitals, among others.
Canon India Immunization Awareness Campaign
Establishment of support camps and conduct of a vaccination awareness campaign in adopted villages Maheshwari (Haryana), Parivali (Mumbai), Kalyanpur (Kolkata) and Annadodi (Bengaluru), is the Canon India team. They educate villagers by explaining the process, benefits and consequences of vaccination, in addition to helping them register online. Canon India has helped over 1,000 people get vaccinated within a week of the awareness campaign.
Amazon.in initiatives for COVID relief
Large e-commerce firm Amazon announced on Thursday that it is providing COVID-19 health insurance coverage to sellers registered on the Amazon Marketplace. Amazon India will fully fund the premium cost of this insurance policy through Acko General Insurance Limited (Acko) and this policy will be valid for one year, after activation.
The insurance policy can be used by sellers who have an active listing on Amazon India between January 1, 2020 and May 1, 2021. When enrolled in the group contract, these sellers have coverage for the COVID-19 hospitalization, medical costs up to ₹ 50,000 and home treatment costs, as prescribed, up to the sum insured.
In addition to this initiative, Amazon India has introduced a myriad of measures to help market sellers overcome the economic challenges caused by the pandemic, such as fee waivers, refunds, etc., for affected sellers. He also worked with Ketto to raise funds to support his sellers in the market and Ketto will waive the success fee for all of these fundraisers.
Maersk facilitates logistics and supplies for medical relief
Integrated container logistics company Maersk supports India’s fight against the second wave. Currently, Maersk facilitates shipments imported from countries such as Ireland, Finland, China, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Israel, South Africa and Singapore.
All air freight shipments to India are facilitated by Maersk and carried out on a zero profit basis, thus supporting the logistics and supply chain of medical relief. The company also offered its water transport service to organizations participating in medical relief at a nominal rate of $ 1 per container.
So far, more than 6,000 oxygen concentrators, 500 oxygen cylinders, 60 cryogenic oxygen tanks and several medical supplies and ventilators have been transported to India by Maersk via its sea and air freight solutions. According to reports, other shipments from China, Turkey and Dammam are still underway.
AI-based solution by ARTPARK
In collaboration with Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and health technology start-up Niramai, AI & Robotics Technology Park (ARTPARK) – a non-profit foundation, launched XraySetu. This digital tool is an AI-based solution that will facilitate early intervention in COVID-19 cases. In addition, this platform can also detect 14 other lung conditions including tuberculosis and pneumonia.
XraySetu has the ability to work with analog and digital X-rays and low resolution images sent from mobile phones. This free platform has successfully helped over 300 doctors in rural areas over the past 10 months. XraySetu can be used by doctors all over India to perform quick interpretation of chest x-rays via Whatsapp chatbot.
