Tottenham have been forced to forfeit an Europa Conference League game that cannot be rescheduled following a string of COVID-19 cases at the club, knocking the team out of the competition.

The UEFA disciplinary committee decided on Monday to grant Rennes a 3-0 victory, confirming that both France and Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem will advance to Group G.

Several Tottenham players and staff were tested for the virus ahead of the Rennes game on December 9. The game was postponed and no replacement date could be found before the December 31 deadline.

UEFA has regularly penalized the teams responsible for matches in European competition that were not played during the pandemic with losses of 3-0. The rules have been confirmed in several cases before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
