SHE SAID HER BIGGEST FEAR IS THAT THIS GUN COULD BE USED TO INJURY SOMEONE ELSE. AND ALTHOUGH SHE DIDN’T WANT TO GO ON CAMERA, SHE WANTED TO TELL HER STORY. THE LAST THING I WANT IS FOR MY GUN TO BE USED TO INJURY SOMEBODY IN THEIR SURVEILLANCE VIDEO YOU CAN SEE THE MAN WHO TOOK THE PURSE ARMY CRAWLING TOWARDS THE UNSUSPECTING VICTIM AND TAKE IT WITH A GUN INSIDE WITHOUT SHE EVEN NOTICED. HE LEAVES HIM AT THE CORNER SO HE CAN GET ON HIS BIKE AND GO AWAY. JUST RECENTLY A REAL GOOD FRIEND OF ME WHO USED TO BARTENDER WITH US WAS SHOT AND KILLED. MAYBE TWO MONTHS AGO. THE WORST END OF A PLETHOR OF CRIME SHE AND HER FRIENDS HAVE SEEN IN THE FRENCH QUARTER WORKING HERE OVER THE YEARS. AND SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN ON THE RISE, ACCORDING TO THE METROPOLITAN CRIME COMMISSION, NEW ORLEANS HAS THE HIGHEST MURDER RATE IN THE COUNTRY THIS YEAR, WITH 218 CARJACK GANGS, 343 SHOTGUNS AND 397 ARMED ROBBERY. A LOT OF THOSE HERE ON BOURBON STREET THIS YEAR ARE A LITTLE EXTREME, YOU KNOW, BUT LIVING HERE AND WORKING DOWNTOWN, YOU’RE ALWAYS ON POINT. YOU KNOW, IT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER HOW BAD IT IS. LIKE, YOU KNOW, IT’S ALWAYS BAD FOR THE VICTIM. HIS GREATEST HOPE IS THAT HIS GUN WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THESE NUMBERS. Around 2 a.m. Thursday morning, a security camera caught a man pulling out a woman’s purse from beneath her. In the video, you can see the man crawling up to her without her ever turning around. The woman says she had her gun in the purse and she fears it may be used to commit a crime in the city. “My biggest fear is that my gun will be used to hurt someone else and my gun will not be used in any more crime that is going to contribute to what is happening here because at this point it is just a bad idea to walk around unprotected and you have to have protection, you have to have something on you Crime especially in the French Quarter has always been bad but it seems to be getting worse all the time” , said the victim, who did not want her name used.The robbery comes as violent crime continues to rise in the Crescent City.According to a report by the Metropolitan Crime Commission, New Orleans has the highest rate of highest murders in all of the United States, with 218 carjackings, 343 shootings and 397 armed robberies.” I know our police department needs support.
